Terrance Rose, currently the Director of Generations Therapy Clinics for Generations, LLC has accepted the position of Administrator of Generations Home Care. He will be undertaking both roles for the company.
Terry Rose, raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has been committed to community service throughout his life at a young age. Terry and his family devoted summers and weekends “teaching people how to fish.” “I’ve been to countries and met people I would not have had the opportunity to see or meet had my family not believed in helping others. To watch an individual take possession of his first home, to clean up in the aftermath of a hurricane, or to bring water and sanitation to an area that had not had it before are rewarding enough, but you get all kinds of extras when you help others, too. Things you were never expecting to see or would have asked to see.” Terry’s story of swimming into a bat cave in Honduras, having the bats’ wings brush his head, and then watching a swarm of bats swirl around a young village boy illustrates some of the unexpected extras that come with a life well traveled.
Terry moved west in 1999, where he continued to help individuals in the inpatient rehabilitation unit of Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. While at Cedars Sinai, Terry developed his passion for neurological rehabilitation, and had the opportunity to train with renowned specialist Walled Al-Oboudi. In addition, he led the ‘Yes I Can” stroke education group, met his wife Erin, and won the Standing Ovation Award for Quality Service.
One of the research projects Terry worked on at Cedars Sinai was “Constraint Induced Therapy.” This innovative therapy program restrains the unaffected limbs, forcing the individual to use the impaired muscles during rehabilitation. “Even if the patient only gains minimal use through Constraint Induced Therapy, it is a gain. The small gains are what give people the independence to put on their socks or brush their teeth.” Terry also had the honor of presenting the research project at the American Occupational Therapy Association Conference in 2002. “Being able to present new research to a group of your peers is exhilarating and fun.”
Terry’s ability to capture your imagination through vivid descriptions of his life experiences – of which there are many - or watching him nurture a client through a difficult set of rehabilitative exercises is inspirational. Terry has a seemingly simple philosophy for success: be enthusiastic about your career, your personal life, your abilities, and what you can give to the community.
Terry has a big job ahead of him as he takes the helm as Administrator of Generations Home Care. Fortunately, Generations Therapy Clinics, Town Center Village Rehabilitation Center and Generations Home Care have excellent working relationships with the local hospitals and area physicians. The quality and level of services provided to individuals by all of the organizations is well known throughout the long-term care industry and by all the individuals who have experienced the services first hand.
