Anyone’s experience with finding assisted living is challenging, confusing and emotional. Our experience with Leslie from Somerset was fluid and simplistic. She has an amazing way of connecting to families. We felt right at home!

I wanted to move from the assisted living place where I am at to Somerset because I have a friend living there. I went for a tour and gave them a $1500. deposit. They had a large size unit which I put down a deposit for. I was assured, I would have the first opportunity to move into that apartment. I had two cats get sick and I couldn’t get over there again quickly. When I called today to to finalize plans to move in, I was told by Jill, the marketing person, that the apartment had been rented. I was told that the people that moved in had their deposit in first. That is not what I was told when I was asked for $1500. to hold the apartment for me. I was only told that the apartment would be mine so she could get my $1500. I had already given a 30 day notice to my current assisted living so now I am without a place to live in 30 days. What a cra—y way to do business. I had a friend, another marketing person, get fired because she refused to lie to people.

It will be 30 days in two days that I put dpwn my deposit. Because of what happened earlier (see above) I was told that I would have my deposit back, at the latest two weeks. I don’t have it. These people lie with a straight face. They are suppose to be kind people. Judging by the results they think they can keep my money,
I am going to add to this review every week until I get my $1500.00 back. I will be 80 yrs old soon and I need my money.

I sent a letter to the corporation that oversees this assisted living and very soon I had my money back. It was nice to finally deal with honest people.

To say the staff and especially April went above and beyond would be an understatement. They made the last weeks with my mom a beautiful experience.

Just moved a loved one here and I am extremely pleased with how welcoming and caring the staff has been. It’s hard for many to make this transition (both for families and their loved ones needing care). Somerset has truly made me feel fortunate to have found the very best place for my loved one.
After our mom had passed, we show up two days later to remove her personal items; clothing, furniture, misc personals – we arrived to find her room unlocked, rearranged, and that Management had done this so they could show the room to the public. Management did not ask our family for permission to do any of this. A sentimental item, her music box, was also missing. The room was still paid for and we were within the time to remove her property as stated in the rental contract.

Extremely unprofessional and disgusting behavior on Somerset’s part.

Families, please make note of this and make sure you instruct Somerset NOT to touch your deceased loved ones room without your permission in writing.

Our experience with Somerset Assisted Living has been excellent. All throughout my mom’s residency there these past years, the staff at every level has been so thoughtful, so caring and overall just exceptional. Now as my mom is nearing end of life on home hospice, that thoughtful, caring, and exceptional situation has just put my good-will towards this place and the people there over the top and more than I can convey in an online recommendation. I feel so strongly about this recommendation that I am taking the time to write it now even at this sensitive and hectic time.

We had experience with other places previously and for us there was just no comparison to Somerset.

The management is excellent, the nursing and med staff are excellent, the support staff and kitchen are excellent.

For those new to assisted living and looking for a really nice and worry-free place, you will want to consider Somerset. Keep in mind (as we learned), that the first month/s at any place you go will be an adjustment time for you or your loved one (or in my case family) to adjust to the new life and routines of assisted living in general, just as the staff there will need time to adjust to you and your routines. There will be times of frustration for you or your loved one as they settle in wherever you go, but once a routine is established and you get to know the staff it will become a god-send! The quality of the nursing and meds staff will be very important and here is another area where Somerset is a god-send. Lastly, but definitely not least, in fact maybe near the top, would be the quality of the food, the chef and the kitchen staff and not to sound like a broken record but here too Somerset was a god-send for us.

A last thing that makes Somerset excel above the competition for us is the fact that they are a large facility so have the scale offer a wide variety of activities, services and importantly friendships….but unlike some of the other places we had experience with, though large, Somerset is not as rigidly corporate, but flexible when appropriate which is often at just the times that flexibility is appreciated most!

I could not ask for a better place for my mother to live. Cherrywood/ Royal Ann Staff, all across-the-board had been respectful, caring, friendly helpful, Informative, and professional. Two things I had problems with was one disrespectful receptionist at front desk Royal Ann Assisted living. While dining with my mother A few times.Tables had dried food and sticky spills on them. I Highly recommend Cherrywood assisted-living Our friends and our loved ones.

My mother has been living at Cherrywood Village for six months and has found it to be a wonderful community. The staff are warm and helpful, the food in the dining room is excellent, and the residents are so friendly and welcoming. My young daughter loves to come to Cherrywood. She calls it “paradise” – probably because there is an ice cream shop and a pool 🙂

The chef at this Restaurant is a large pile of horse dung. He treats his dishwashers like second class citizens, I worked there and couldn’t be happier to leave. I saw him put cheese that was on the floor in the soup. He’s a Spaniard man with anger issues who takes it out on vulnerable employees who desperately need that job. I wish I could give zero stars.

I love Cherrywood Village. It is such a nice facility. My only criticism would be that the front desk person on Queen Anne side could be more friendly.

It was nice to just walk in and check in like normal. My temperature was taken at my fingertip and I didn’t have to mess up my hair to move my bangs – how nice is that! I like the new system.

Staff was very friendly and place was nicely decorated but when I was leaving I had to walk carefully because another visitor had vomited in the doorway and was still being tended to and cleaned up along with the floor there. How did he pass the screening and enter the facility?

It’s a good place. Its a good facility, they maintain it well, staff are good to the residents, and the community is strong and caring. When we visit I am always impressed by the range of activities on the calendar, by the above-and-beyond effort invested in seasonal decoration and events. It feels like a warm and caring place. My family members who live there agree.

Only thing could be improved is healthy food choices. They do not cater to diabetic or cardiac diets. My mother has lived here many years and enjoys the facility and the many friends she has made. The staff is very helpful, but the chef needs training in special diets and support by management in this area otherwise the place is great and my mother enjoys the facility and the fact she does not have to go outside in the weather for eating, banking, hairdressing, church, etc. They have it all here.

When my wife and I first visited CherryWood we were immediately impressed by the facility. The dining room is clean and airy and the food is very good. The fitness center is very well equipped and the swimming pool is the largest and best maintained that we have seen at any facility. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained.

We were equally impressed with the residence facilities. The hallways are wide and well lit, and all the vacant apartments have been cleaned and refurbished. The apartment we selected is exactly what we had been looking for and we signed up immediately.

Since we have been here we are most impressed with the staff. They are courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. Whenever we have a problem they respond immediately and are very efficient. We could not ask for better care.

We have now been here for about 18 months and we consider our move here to be the best decision we have made. We love CherryWood and would recommend it to everyone.

A message from our Senior Executive Director, Tye Gabriel

Being a Generations leader is a dream come true for me with the example my mother, grandfather, and great-great grandmother set forth. What makes it special for me are the relationships, with both our employees and residents. Every employee and resident have a different story and background. Being inclusive, meeting each person where they are at and prioritizing those values above all else is what makes Generations and Cherrywood Village different.
