Many decades ago, Wendell White had a revolutionary idea for senior living—to put family at the center of the experience. With his family partners, Wendell brought his vision to life: Happy, beautiful communities where thriving, dynamic people could participate in a wide array of indoor and outdoor activities, with the support they need to stay or become healthy and genuinely feel a sense of home.

Building on that radical tradition of service excellence and innovative design, we continue a storied family legacy that began with Wendell’s grandparents in 1943—offering a flourishing alternative to traditional senior care with living options that are devoted to family and an unrelenting drive to be the best at what we do.

Wendell White remains the company’s chairman and visionary, along with his daughter Melody, who is now CEO and runs the day-to-day operations. Wendell and his wife Betsy now reside at CherryWood Village, one of Generations flagship properties in Portland, Oregon. Moving to the community, Wendell now enjoys the independence and vitality he helped create for all of our residents.
